The standards behind every certification
Certification isn't self-certifying — the Academic Board sets and upholds the standard, and the Council retains the power to withdraw a certification that no longer meets it.
Verify a CertificationThe Academic Board shall "establish and uphold academic standards and policies to maintain the quality and integrity of the education provided by the School."
This same standards function extends to certification, not only academic diplomas.
Four standards the Academic Board upholds
Technical Competence
Demonstrated skill in the specific practice area — verified through portfolio review and practical assessment.
Professional Ethics
Understanding of the ethical obligations specific to the practitioner's field, including media law where relevant.
Current Practice
Assessment reflects how the practice area is actually conducted today, including digital and platform-native methods.
Ongoing Standing
Certification reflects standing at the time of assessment and is subject to the Council's continued oversight.
Two grounds for withdrawal
Conferred contrary to requirements
If a certification was granted without the applicant actually meeting the prescribed standard.
Fraud or misrepresentation
If a certification was obtained through fraud, misrepresentation, or other improper means.
Withdrawal is a Council-level decision, not an administrative one — this is why certification status is always publicly checkable in the verification registry.
