The Director-General is KSC's chief executive — appointed by the Council, accountable for day-to-day management, and the non-voting ex officio member of both the Council and the Academic Board.

The Director-General is competitively recruited and appointed by the Council on such terms and conditions as the Council determines, serving as the institution's chief executive officer.
The Director-General "shall be responsible to the Council for the management and administration of the affairs of the School."
What the office oversees
Day-to-day management and administration of the School's affairs.
Implementation of Council policies, strategies, and decisions.
Oversight of all five Centres of Excellence and their operational delivery.
Accounting officer responsibilities for the School's finances, reported to Council.
Representing the School in external, government, and industry relationships.
