The Experience
Not a photo op. A genuine accident of geography.
Giraffe Manor's grounds directly adjoin the AFEW Giraffe Centre, a sanctuary established to protect the Rothschild's giraffe from near-extinction. A small number of giraffes wander the grounds freely, and it isn't unusual for one to lean through a dining room window during breakfast, drawn by the food on the table rather than by any schedule.
We want to be honest about what this actually is: it's not a performance timed to guest arrivals. The giraffes come and go as they choose, which means most mornings include at least one visit, but a specific morning is never guaranteed. That unpredictability is, if anything, part of what makes it feel real rather than staged.
The experience typically lasts as long as breakfast does — usually 30 to 60 minutes — with no set structure beyond simply being present at the table.

The Rothschild's giraffe was once reduced to a few hundred individuals in the wild. The adjoining AFEW Giraffe Centre exists specifically to protect and reintroduce this subspecies, and every stay at Giraffe Manor directly supports that work, along with the Centre's local education programs.
