The Rothschild's giraffe was once reduced to a few hundred individuals across East Africa. The AFEW Giraffe Centre, adjoining Giraffe Manor's own grounds, has worked for decades on breeding, reintroduction, and public education around this specific subspecies. Every stay at Giraffe Manor contributes directly to the Centre's ongoing operating costs and local school education programs.

Distinct from the AFEW Giraffe Centre's site-specific work, this partnership funds broader population monitoring and research across giraffe range states in East Africa — tracking population trends that inform conservation policy well beyond our own properties.

Our guiding team at Sala's Camp has followed several resident predator families across multiple generations, feeding sighting and behavioral data into a wider predator-monitoring effort across the Mara's Northern Conservancy. This is the same program that lets our guides recognize individual lions on sight, not just species.

The Grevy's zebra, distinguishable from the more common Burchell's zebra by its narrower stripes, is one of the rarest zebra species remaining in the wild, concentrated largely in northern Kenya's Samburu and Laikipia regions. Both Sasaab and Siruai Mobile Camp guests contribute to this program through their stay.

Solio Ranch has operated a rhino sanctuary since long before Solio Lodge existed as a guest property — this is one of Kenya's genuinely established conservation success stories, not a recent addition. Guest fees at Solio Lodge contribute directly to anti-poaching patrols and habitat management across the sanctuary.

Pangolins are rarely seen on a typical game drive, which is part of why they're so easy to overlook as a conservation priority. This program funds research and community-based anti-trafficking work across northern Kenya's rangelands, an area our guiding teams at Sasaab and Siruai actively support with sighting reports.
