Membership

Membership Is Not a Purchase. It Is Admission Into a Legacy.

Golf is the flagship. Belonging is the point. Membership at Royal Nairobi is an invitation into a community that has met on these grounds since 1906.

Why Join

What Membership Actually Gives You

Facilities are how you experience membership — they are not the reason for it. Here is what members say they actually joined for.

The clubhouse grounds

Heritage & Prestige

The only Royal-chartered golf club in Kenya, founded in 1906. Membership here signals something no newer institution can offer — continuity.

A member playing golf

Championship Golf

An 18-hole, par-72 course over 7,200 yards, competitive programming, and a century of the Tannahill Shield to be part of.

Members socialising at the club

Belonging & Community

A vetted, proposer-led membership model that means the people you meet here are here for the same reasons you are.

Dining at the club

Hospitality & Dining

From the Main Bar to Fine Dining to the Royal Garden — daily life here doesn't stop at the eighteenth green, it just changes rooms.

Family at the swimming pool

Family & Wellness

Junior and Juvenile membership, family dining, poolside afternoons — so your children grow up belonging here the way you do.

A business gathering at the club

Business Relationships

The terrace overlooking the eighteenth green has quietly hosted more real business conversations than most boardrooms.

The Path to Membership

How Joining Actually Works

Membership is proposed, not applied for cold. Here is the shape of the journey — in full detail on the next page.

Step 1

Find a Proposer

An existing member proposes your candidacy — the beginning of every membership at Royal Nairobi.

Step 2

Submit Documentation

You submit identification, photographs, and category-specific requirements to the Membership Office — who takes it from there.

Step 3

Vetting

Your application is reviewed by the club — a considered process, not a formality.

Step 4

Balloting

You're balloted in, and formally welcomed into the club you've just joined.

In Members' Words

Why They Joined, and Why They Stayed

"I was proposed by a colleague I'd known for years — by the time I was balloted in, it already felt less like joining a club and more like being welcomed home."

"My children learned to swim at the pool and now they're learning golf on the same fairways I did as a boy. That continuity is worth more than any single amenity."

Full Family MemberSecond-generation member

"We hosted our corporate golf day here and I've since had three client conversations start on that terrace. The setting does real work for the relationship."
