Muthaiga's membership has been built on introduction, not advertisement, for over a century. This is what that actually means — and how it works.
The Case for Belonging
A membership, not a subscription.
Most things you join today ask for a card number and give you access by return of post. Muthaiga has never worked that way, and it isn't about to start. Membership here is a standing among people who know the course, know each other, and — often — know each other's families.
What you get is not just an 18-hole championship course and a well-run clubhouse, though both are real. It's a community that has been renewing itself for a hundred years, one proposer and one seconder at a time.

Membership Categories
Six ways to belong, one standard throughout.
Whichever category fits your circumstances, the standard of welcome doesn't change. Entrance fees and annual subscriptions are confirmed directly by the Membership Office once an application is under way.

| Country Membership | Members whose primary residence is outside Nairobi, visiting the club periodically. |
| Overseas Membership | Kenyan or foreign members who reside outside the country for extended periods. |
| Expatriate Membership | Non-Kenyan residents working in Kenya, typically for the duration of a posting. |
| Temporary Membership | Short-term access, often extended to visiting professionals and corporate guests. |
| Junior Membership | For young golfers building a game — and a lifelong relationship with the club. |
Reciprocal arrangements with clubs abroad are also available to eligible members — details are provided by the Membership Office on request.
Yes. Every application requires a proposer and a seconder who are existing members. If you don't yet know one, the Membership Office can advise on how prospective members are usually introduced to the club.
It varies by category and by the committee's meeting calendar. It is deliberately not an instant process — applications are reviewed with the same care the club applies to everything else.
Family arrangements vary by category. The Membership Office can talk you through what applies to your specific circumstances.
Entrance Procedure
Proposed, seconded, and considered properly.
Three things are required: a proposer who has been a member in good standing for at least three years, a seconder, and a completed application. Nothing about that is designed to be quick — it's designed to be right.
Once your proposer and seconder have put your name forward, the Membership Office will guide you through the remaining steps — including committee review and, where relevant, an informal introduction to the club.
