Simpler than it looks from a distance.
A short scheduled flight from Nairobi is almost always the whole journey. Here's exactly how it works, property by property.
From wherever you are, to wherever we are.
Most journeys follow the same basic shape, regardless of which property you're headed to.
An international flight into Nairobi
Most guests arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), typically via a major hub in Europe, the Middle East, or elsewhere in Africa.
An overnight, or a short transfer, in Nairobi
Depending on your arrival time, we can arrange a comfortable overnight near Wilson Airport before your onward flight the following morning.
A scheduled light-aircraft flight
From Wilson Airport, a short scheduled flight — usually under an hour — takes you directly to the airstrip nearest your property.
A private road transfer to the lodge
A member of our team meets every flight — the drive up varies by property, but it's rarely more than half an hour.
The specifics differ slightly.
Angama Mara
A direct scheduled flight lands on our own airstrip below the escarpment, followed by a twenty-minute drive up to the lodge.

A scheduled flight lands nearby, with a private transfer directly into the Kimana Sanctuary — most guests are settled in by early afternoon.
Explore Angama Amboseli →Angama Safari Camp
Because the camp's location depends on the Migration's movement, our reservations team confirms your exact transfer once your dates are set.

Where are you travelling from?
This just adjusts the guidance below — nothing is tracked or saved.
Most European hubs (London, Paris, Amsterdam, Zurich) connect to Nairobi with a single overnight flight, arriving the following morning — timed well for a same-day onward connection to any of our properties.
If your flight lands in the afternoon or evening, we'd recommend an overnight in Nairobi before continuing on, simply so the onward light-aircraft flight isn't rushed.
From North America, most routings connect through a European or Middle Eastern hub, making for a longer total journey — often two flight segments before Nairobi.
Given the length of the journey, we typically suggest building in a full night in Nairobi to rest before the onward flight to camp.
Direct flights from several Middle Eastern hubs (Dubai, Doha, Addis Ababa) connect to Nairobi in well under six hours, often allowing for a same-day onward connection.
This is usually the most convenient routing we see, logistically speaking.
If you're already travelling within East or Southern Africa, regional carriers connect most major cities to Nairobi directly, often same-day.

A few things guests often ask.
Light-aircraft carriers typically limit luggage to around 15kg per person in soft-sided bags, due to space constraints on smaller planes. We're glad to advise on packing specifics once your itinerary is confirmed.
Most nationalities require an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) obtained in advance online. Requirements vary by nationality, so we'd recommend checking directly with Kenyan immigration authorities as part of your planning.
Yes — a scheduled light-aircraft flight typically connects the Mara and Amboseli directly, without needing to route back through Nairobi. Our multi-property planning tool can help sequence this.
Our reservations team monitors your flight details and adjusts your ground and onward-flight arrangements accordingly — this is one of the reasons we prefer to know your full itinerary well in advance.
All three properties have WiFi available in common areas and suites. Mobile signal varies more by location, and is generally weakest at the Safari Camp given its remote, changing setting.
Let's work out your exact route together.
Once we know your dates, home city, and which properties you're considering, our reservations team will confirm the specifics.
