Segera could simply employ local staff for conservation and land management roles — and it does. But the Laikipia Learning Centre exists because employment alone doesn't guarantee the restoration outlasts any single generation of workers. Training does.
Forestry students train in the reforestation zones described on The Land. Permaculture students work Segera's own kitchen gardens. Conservation students often shadow the ranger and anti-poaching teams directly.
