Not a big story โ just a simple idea about food, family, and not sending people home hungry.
We never wanted to be the fanciest steakhouse in Nairobi โ just the one where nobody at your table leaves hungry.
AFI started with a simple frustration: too many places treated a family dinner or a group hangout like a series of individual orders, each one small enough to leave you eyeing the menu for something else. We built AFI around the opposite idea โ cook it generously, grill it properly, and let the table share.
That's still the whole philosophy. Every platter is sized for real portions, not plated for a photo. Every Thursday night is built for people to linger, not turn tables fast. It's a small thing, but it's the thing we care about most.
Our retail butchery supplies the exact same meat that hits the grill โ no separate "restaurant grade" and "shop grade." What you taste on the platter is what's hanging in the counter.
It also means what's fresh in the butchery that morning shapes what's best on the grill that night โ ask your server what's come in fresh if you want the kitchen's honest recommendation.
See What's Fresh TodayWe're not backed by a celebrity or a global brand deal โ our version of "partnership" is showing up in Muthiga and Kikuyu, week after week, until we're part of the neighborhood's rhythm rather than just another restaurant in it.
Soul Bites Thursdays is the clearest expression of that โ live music, a packed house, and regulars who've been coming since we opened.
