Our History & Mission
Part of a global network, rooted locally
Alliance Française Kenya is part of the worldwide Alliance Française network, founded in Paris in 1883 to promote French language and culture around the world. Today that network spans more than 130 countries — and here in Kenya, it's grown from a single language school into a language school, certification centre, arts venue, library, and community, all under one roof.
Our mission is simple: French language comes alive through culture. Every class, every concert, every book on our shelves exists to bring people closer to that idea — not as separate services, but as one connected experience.

Our Nairobi centre houses classrooms, a full theatre for performances and film screenings, the Médiathèque library, a gallery space, and a courtyard used for everything from conversation tables to festival evenings.
