Circular 15/2026 — Revised Advocates Remuneration Order
The revised Advocates (Remuneration) Order 2026 takes effect on 1 September 2026. All advocates should review the updated fee scales for contentious and non-contentious matters.

The LSK Council has approved the revised Advocates (Remuneration) Order 2026, which takes effect on 1 September 2026. Key changes include:

  • Updated minimum fee scales for High Court matters
  • New fee bands for conveyancing based on transaction value
  • Revised scale for employment tribunal representation

Advocates are reminded that charging below the prescribed minimum may constitute professional misconduct. The full Order is available on the LSK Knowledge Centre.

LSK has updated the legal aid referral procedures effective June 2026. All advocates providing legal aid services under the LSK programme should review the updated procedures and partner contacts.

  • New referral intake form (replaces the 2023 version)
  • Updated partner organisation contacts in 12 counties

Advocates providing legal aid services must use the updated forms from 1 June 2026.

LSK submits formal position on Legal Aid Amendment Bill 2026
LSK has filed a formal submission to the National Assembly Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs addressing eligibility thresholds, county-level funding, and provider accreditation under the proposed Bill.

The LSK submission addresses three main areas of the proposed Legal Aid Amendment Bill 2026: eligibility thresholds for state-funded legal aid, county-level funding mechanisms, and the accreditation of legal aid service providers.

The full submission is available to all LSK members on the Knowledge Centre. Members who wish to provide feedback on LSK's position may write to policy@lsk.or.ke before 15 August 2026.
