Kenya's 47 counties each have a KEFRI regional centre within reach — providing direct access to field scientists, species knowledge specific to that county's ecosystem, and decades of experimental data. A formal MOU with KEFRI gives county governments structured access to technical support, training, and scientific backing for their forest targets.

Kenya's timber and forest products industry makes investment decisions based on species productivity data, timber quality information, and market intelligence. KEFRI has the most comprehensive dataset in East Africa on all three — accumulated across 90 years of field research and laboratory testing. Commercial partnerships give industry access to this data, and to KEFRI's technical advisory on investment and product decisions.

We actively seek joint research, data partnerships, and co-supervision arrangements with academic and research institutions globally.

Forest carbon projects in Kenya need credible, locally-derived scientific data on sequestration rates, species performance, and monitoring methodology. KEFRI's 15-year longitudinal carbon study — the most comprehensive long-term carbon dataset for East African plantation systems — provides exactly that foundation. The KEFRI Technical Endorsement is increasingly referenced by voluntary carbon market verifiers as a credibility standard for Kenyan forestry projects.
