Filming in Kenya previously required separate applications to up to seven different government agencies. KFC's Permit Portal changes that — you apply once, and KFC coordinates with all relevant agencies on your behalf.

Most standard permits are processed within 4 business days. Complex or national park permits may take 7–10 days.
Foreign productions can apply before arriving in Kenya. We coordinate crew visa recommendations alongside permit applications when required.
Digitally issued KFC permits are valid and accepted by all Kenyan authorities. No need for physical copies at most locations.
Date changes, location additions, or crew amendments — log in, submit the change, and KFC informs all relevant agencies.

Choose the right permit
for your production
For standard film, TV, and commercial productions filming in general locations — urban environments, private land, public roads, and non-protected areas. The most commonly issued permit type.
Required for filming inside Kenya Wildlife Service-managed parks, reserves, and conservancies. KFC coordinates with KWS and the relevant park authority. Ranger escort may be required for wildlife encounters.
Required for all unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV/drone) filming and any crewed aerial filming. KFC coordinates with the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA). Operator must hold valid KCAA drone licence.
Required for filming at National Museums of Kenya-managed sites, UNESCO World Heritage Sites (Lamu, Gede Ruins, etc.), and protected cultural heritage areas. KFC coordinates with the relevant custodian.
For commercial advertising, branded content, social media campaigns, and promotional videos. Simplified application process for single-location, short-duration shoots. Includes product liability requirements.
Expedited permit process for news gathering, current affairs, and independent documentary productions. Simplified requirements and 24–48 hour turnaround for qualifying applications. Foreign media accreditation coordinated.

All fees are inclusive of KFC coordination services. KWS, NEMA, and National Museums fees are included in the consolidated payment. VAT applicable for Kenyan companies. Official Co-Productions under KFC treaty receive 50% fee reduction. Payment accepted by M-PESA, bank transfer, or card.
